So today we are going to talk about the best betta fish tank.

What should be the best tank for betta fish?

We have seen many pet stores that keep betta fish in a small container. But a minimum 5 gallon water tank is ideal for a betta fish. Although an 8, 10 or 12 gallon water tank is better for betta fish.

We recommend a minimum 5 gallon water tank is very important for Betta Fish and there are good reasons for that, such as,

Filter system for betta fish tank:

Proper water filter system is essential in a betta fish tank or aquarium. When we keep a fish in an aquarium for a long time, small particles or waste materials accumulate on the bottom of the aquarium or tank.  Subsequently, the small particles or waste material is converted into ammonia.

We know ammonia is a very harmful substance for our fish. So a good filter system is very important for our betta fish tank.

A good filter system removes small particles or waste from the bottom of the aquarium.

There are usually some good bacteria found in filter systems. Nitrification process takes place with the help of these bacteria, converting ammonia into nitrite. Later this nitrite is converted to nitrate. Although nitrite is harmful to our fish.

So we should change 20% to 30% of the betta fish tank water every week and clean the filter system once a month. Although it totally depends on the size and water holding capacity of your tank.

But we should keep in mind that if our tank is too small in size then the filter system cannot be properly placed in it.

Plant for betta fish tanks:

Betta fish do not require any kind of electric air pump. Not only that, if we use an electric air pump in a small aquarium, the water pressure will increase which is not at all right for our betta fish.

We can also control the amount of oxygen for betta fish by planting some plants in our tank. Not only that, plants help to control the amount of ammonia present in our aquarium. Plants help to improve the aquarium environment.

Therefore, plants are very important for betta fish tanks. But we cannot put any plant in our better fish tank. Because there are some plants that contain calcium oxalate, which can be harmful to our betta fish. So we should keep certain plants in betta fish tanks like, Marimo moss ball, Sword plant, Java Ferns, Anubias Nana etc.

Light for betta fish tanks:

Brightness helps to enhance the beauty of our fish tank or aquarium and we get this brightness from lights.

Lights help keep the plants in our fish tanks healthy and strong. Not only that, the light requirement for a betta fish is very high.

Lights help enhance the colour and brightness of our betta fish. Lights help improve the betta fish tank environment.

There are many people who keep the aquarium lights on all the time which is not right for our betta fish.

8 to 10 hours of light is sufficient for our betta fish tank. One thing we need to keep in mind is that too much light can add stress to our betta fish.

Heater for betta fish tank:

Temperature control is essential for betta fish. Very high temperatures are just as harmful to betta fish as are very cold temperatures.

So we should keep the betta fish at a certain temperature so that the fish is very comfortable and can increase the immune system.

The ideal temperature for betta fish is 75° to 80° Fahrenheit. So a heater is very necessary for our betta fish tank which can control that temperature.

Not only that, a certain temperature helps keep our betta betta fish tank plants healthy. Also a certain temperature helps to reduce the chances of harmful bacteria and algae in our fish tank.

Summary :  So for a betta fish we need the right tank with filters, heaters and plants. If we use a very small tank then it will not be possible to keep all those things in our tank.

So a betta fish needs a tank that can hold at least 5 gallons of water. If we keep betta fish in between 8, 10 and 12 gallon tanks it will be better for them.
